Lightning Post: The Future of Writing

I remember at a university fair in grade 12 I walked up. to a booth for a journalism school and he told me applying and going to journalism school would be a waste of my time. I think about this a lot when I notice how little my friends and myself turn to the news as sources of information. Accesibility has a whole new meaning these days, and to be honest when I think of the future of writing, writing itself is not included.

As a book lover, this is hard to admit, but with the fast pace of social media platforms like Instagram, Tik Tok and Youtube, my attention span as well as many of my friends’ has gotten slower. I think more and more people are going to be watching and listening rather than reading. Vlogging will replace blogging, op-docs will replace op-eds, and podcasts will replace articles.
